About.

Laurence Hénault is a french Canadian artist born in 1995.

She’s got a master’s degree in Electronic Commerce from HEC Montreal University and a BFA in Fine Arts-Studio Arts from Concordia University. Laurence uses art to express herself freely.

She explores with instinct and likes to mix different artistic mediums. She works with spontaneity, sensitivity and creativity. The essence of her work is based on her needs of creation.

Through her works, she makes us discover emotion. When she starts a work, Laurence never plans the final result.

She works very fast. She applies the medium by instinctive gestures guiding her senses and her imagination.

When we observe Laurence Hénault in her creative process, we realize that she manages and detach herself from reality. She is spellbound by music and she focuses her energy on creating a world that lies between the limit of abstraction and figuration.

She describes her art as an extension and reflection of her surroundings and her troubled thoughts. As person, she is deeply touched and sensitive by cultural and social tensions, war, inequalities, climate change, politics, feminism, economics and new technologies.

She considers that it’s only the audience who can see, understand and give real meaning about her works.

The only explanation that’s she gives…
” My art stems from life and its tragedies; all the influence and environment that surrounds it.”

By looking her works, we feel sometimes tragic, raw, naive, abstract and dark.
